One of the most exciting parts about planning a destination wedding is finding the perfect location. But with so many incredible places to choose from, it might feel impossible to decide on just one. Plus, there are so many factors to consider- how accessible is it? What time of year is best to visit? What amenities can my guests enjoy while traveling? Lucky for you, I’m here to share some of the best places to have a destination wedding, from the beaches of Southern Italy to the vibrant cities of Portugal. No matter what your aesthetic or vision, you’re guaranteed to find the best places to have a destination wedding below. So let’s get started…

Puglia

Settled along the Mediterranean coastline in Southern Italy lies the vibrant region of Puglia. Known for its whitewashed towns, rustic olive groves and the blue waters of the Ionian sea, this region has gained popularity over the last few years and it’s easy to see why. There are so many scenic and quaint towns throughout the region from charming Alberobello to historic Lecce. This region’s rich history, architecture, warm weather and picturesque coastline make it one of the best places to have a destination wedding.

There are tons of gorgeous venue options, but be sure to check out Masseria Moroseta. A luxurious yet laid back resort with stunning minimalist vibes. This would be the perfect option if you’re looking for a spot that feels secluded and private but can also accommodate all your guests under one roof. The white stone farmhouse overlooks the sea and is surrounded by a centuries-old olive grove, making you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. With so many beautiful options for your ceremony and reception, you’ll find everything you need to host an unforgettable event, and spend meaningful quality time with your guests all in one place.

Mallorca

Another gem along the Mediterranean coastline is Mallorca, an island off the western coast of Spain. If you’re torn between the European charm of a city and the turquoise waters of the beach, Mallorca is the best of both worlds. And the incredible food, stunning mountain views, and bustling nightlife are just a bonus 😉. There are endless experiences for your guests to enjoy during their stay on the island. Plus, it’s just a short flight to major cities like Madrid and Barcelona if they want to extend their visit and keep exploring. There’s no shortage of beautiful wedding venues on the island but Finca Son Togores is a standout. The historic venue was built in 1891 and is situated at the base of the Sierra de Tramontana mountains. With gorgeous outdoor terraces and gardens, it’s the perfect spot for a romantic reception under the stars.

Tuscany

Calling all my vino-loving couples, this is the wedding destination for you! If you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience, Tuscany has it all. Renaissance art, olive groves, golden landscapes, iconic terracotta architecture and endless vineyards. Not to mention, it has some of the most romantic wedding venues in the world. Take Borgo Santo Pietro for example, a luxury resort nestled in the heart of Tuscany. Every detail of this amazing place is impeccably designed to embrace its old world charm while providing endless modern amenities. The 800-year-old luxury farmhouse hotel has 20 unique rooms, farm-to-table restaurants and event spaces designed in true Tuscan style. The property feels private and secluded, but attractions like Abbazia di San Galgano and the historic village of Monticiano are located nearby. If your aesthetic is all about European romance, Tuscany is one of the best places to have a destination wedding.

Portugal

Let’s head south of Spain to another beautiful and versatile spot for your European destination wedding- Portugal! This gorgeous country gets over 300 days of sun along the Mediterranean coastline, so you’re basically guaranteed beautiful conditions no matter what time of year. You also get your choice of gorgeous settings from the famous beaches of Algarve to lush and mountainous countrysides. Plus, Portugal is a great place to maximize your wedding budget while still achieving that wow factor. As for wedding venues, Portugal is full of historic palaces and modern vineyards that are perfect for destination weddings. Palacio Queluz is a Portuguese palace that was once home to royalty, and it’s truly unlike any wedding venue you’ve ever seen. Every inch of this place is ornate and luxurious and will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a scene straight out of Bridgerton.

Capri

If visions of your Italian destination wedding include vibrant blue waters, old world villas and homemade limoncello, there’s no better place than Capri. This luxurious and exclusive island is known for its rugged landscapes overlooking the deep blue waters of the Bay of Naples. There are plenty of reasons why Capri is known as one of the best places to have a destination wedding- the natural beauty, world-class restaurants and quaint towns are just a few. Capri is all about classic Italian glamor, and the J.K. Place luxury hotel embodies just that. This modern venue overlooks the iconic waters of Capri and can host celebrations from intimate dinner parties to large scale receptions. Plus, it’s located right in the middle of the action so your guests can enjoy all the Capri has to offer during their stay.
